Top industry shoo-man talks about Grampa KISS
There has been alot of negative talk on the forums from folk who are misunderstanding Mr Kiss’ shoe making abilities. l thought l would give an experts view on why some of the KISS leather uppers don't fit right.
Mr X said that Mr KISS is a very good shoemaker. So he should be, he’s made over 5,000 pairs of shoes, so he does know what he is doing. The poor fit of some uppers is NOT his fault. Forum folks say that it is a lasting problem and that Mr KISS doesn't know how to last a shoe properly, but if you look at some of his shoes, it is obvious that he does know how to last a shoe properly. The problem solely is the fault of the pattern maker. Mr X explained how the pattern should have been drawn and cut, and said that if it was done properly the upper would have slipped over the last properly. See Fritzl, Mr KISS is awesome, he knows what he’s doing. Some folk criticise his crooked welt stitches, but no big deal, the man is very old, + it adds character and shows it’s clearly handmade.
